See how APPs contribute across the enterprise, where to optimize and where to invest as programs grow.
Start withAn APP Workforce Review, Assess and Intelligence
Book an APP Workforce ReviewAdvanced practice is where the clinical workforce is going. NPs and PAs are the growth workforce in nearly every specialty, and the programs that design for it will own the next decade of access and margin. Getting there is slow and confusing without someone who has done it. APProviso gives you the standard, the decisions, and the direction to get your program to impactful practice and keep it there.

When a workflow is strained or a physician needs help, an APP is often the fastest, most affordable answer. Without a clearly defined role, that answer can lead to confusion, unfair expectations and lost productivity. We start with the work.
“No one is sure what our APPs are supposed to be doing.”
We define each role around the work, the patients and the outcomes it owns, so expectations are clear from day one.
“Physicians are overwhelmed even though we’ve added APPs.”
We look at who does what work, then shape the team so every clinician practices at the top of their license.
“This specialty says they need three more APPs.”
We map demand, capacity and how current roles are used before you add FTE.
“Our APPs have no wRVUs.”
We make their full contribution visible, including shared visits billed under physicians.
“Nobody owns APP performance across the organization.”
We establish the leadership and governance structure advanced practice needs.
“We know our APP program can be better, but we’re not sure where to start.”
Our specialty playbooks lay out national standards, best practices and a clear path from where you are today.
Give us the problem. We’ll follow the work, the people and the data.

Why APProviso
Finding the opportunity is only the start. Turnover, new leaders and shifting volumes can undo progress within months. APProviso brings the data, the expertise and the long-term partnership to make sure the changes we make together keep working.
We measure the full work APPs perform and track validated impact every month.
National standards, state scope of practice and hands-on operational experience in advanced practice.
Implementation support, monthly recommendations and executive reviews that keep progress on track.
How We Partner

We evaluate your APP workforce to uncover opportunities and risks.

We help you implement the right changes to drive measurable results.

Our Methodology
Research-based methods that connect how APPs are deployed to the outcomes that matter to your organization.
Distinguishes the work APPs perform from the work captured in billing.
Evaluates productivity in the context of how each role is designed and deployed.
Links staffing and compensation decisions to market benchmarks, labor cost, revenue and access.
Improved access, quality, engagement and financial performance across the enterprise.
Workforce Intelligence
APProviso Workforce Intelligence continuously tracks workforce investment, utilization, productivity, revenue capture, staffing needs and identified opportunities, so leadership can see what’s changing and who owns the response.

Specialty Playbooks
Built for organizations with strong operations and APP leaders who want to take their APP workforce from where it is today to what it can be. Each playbook is a specialty-specific operational guide to national standards and best practices for APP utilization and role definition, designed to work like a workbook.
Inside every playbook
APProviso was founded by healthcare leaders with deep operational experience in advanced practice. We work alongside your team from discovery through sustained results.
Built for
Book a confidential APP Workforce Review, or start with a specialty playbook your team can put to work right away.
APProviso Assess™
A confidential, fixed-fee assessment of how your APP workforce is deployed, measured and led, with a practical roadmap your leaders can act on.
Fixed fee, scoped up front
Virtual, with focused on-site time
State-Specific From the Start
Every assessment begins with the nurse practitioner and physician assistant scope of practice, licensure rules and recent legislation where you operate, so recommendations fit your state instead of broad national strokes.
For example, when a state creates a new pathway to independent practice for nurse practitioners, we help leaders understand what the new credential allows, what happens to existing collaborative agreements and how bylaws and privileges should follow.
What We Review
Financial performance matters. So do access, quality and the people delivering care.
How APPs are deployed across sites and shifts, and whether capacity matches demand.
Who does what work and why, measured against national standards and your state’s scope of practice.
The work APPs perform versus the work captured, including shared visits billed under physicians.
How APP deployment affects access to care, outcomes, safety and the patient experience.
How pay and incentives compare with national benchmarks and support how each role is designed and deployed.
Documentation, attestation and attribution practices that affect captured revenue.
Turnover, burnout risk, career growth and what keeps APPs practicing with you.
How new APPs reach full practice and how competencies are maintained over time.
Who owns APP performance, standards and development across the organization.
Top-of-License Practice
Many NPs and PAs were never shown what their role could be, so the job becomes whatever the day requires. Some aren’t sure what they can or should do. Others spend much of their time on work below their training because no one has defined a better model.
The goal is simple: APPs who fully support the practice, and physicians who know how to work alongside them.
Compensation & Market Alignment
Operations, finances and compensation are the foundation of a high-functioning APP workforce. We compare your plans and results with recognized national compensation and productivity benchmarks, so pay, expectations and role design work together.
Not every organization shares full compensation plans, so we work with the level of detail you’re comfortable providing.
No single survey tells the whole story, so we build market ranges from multiple independent sources and show you where each number comes from.
NP and PA pay ranges by state, metro area and care setting.
Billed services and estimated wRVUs for NPs and PAs, read alongside the shared work claims data can’t see.
NP and PA compensation, productivity and staffing by specialty, credential and experience.
Pay, schedules, productivity and billing, including shared visits billed under physicians.
Every range draws on at least three sources, cites each one and respects its license terms. Benchmarking informs planning and is not a formal fair market value opinion.
How It Works
01
A virtual scoping conversation grounded in NP and PA scope of practice, licensure and recent legislation in your state.
02
Virtual interviews with executives, medical directors, physicians and APPs, plus a secure review of the data you already have.
03
We compare your current state with national standards and your state’s scope of practice for each specialty.
04
We present prioritized recommendations, with owners and next steps, to your leadership team virtually or on site.
What You Receive
Findings are written for executives and practical enough for the operations and APP leaders who will carry them forward.
Questions
Yes. Scoping starts with NP and PA scope of practice, licensure and recent legislation in your state, so every recommendation reflects what APPs can do where you practice. Our work informs operational planning and doesn’t replace advice from your legal counsel.
Most of the assessment is completed virtually through interviews, working sessions and secure data review. We plan focused on-site time only where seeing the work in person adds the most value.
Time with key leaders for interviews, plus access to the staffing, scheduling, productivity, billing and compensation data you already have.
No. We work with the level of detail you’re comfortable sharing, from plan documents to summary pay data, and compare it with national benchmarks.
Most assessments run 8 to 12 weeks from scoping to readout. Key leaders spend a few hours in interviews and working sessions, and your analytics team helps with the initial data pull. We handle the analysis.
Only what the analysis requires: workforce, scheduling, productivity, billing and compensation data. No clinical notes. We sign business associate and data use agreements before any data is shared, use secure, approved transfer channels and follow your organization’s security policies. Your data stays yours and is never shared or combined with other clients’ data.
We agree on baseline and success measures during scoping, so every recommendation carries a way to know whether it worked. Intelligence tracks validated impact against those measures every month.
Your roadmap is yours to act on. If you would like support, Optimize provides remote implementation help and Intelligence keeps progress visible over time.
Fixed Fee. Scoped Up Front.
Every assessment is scoped and priced before work begins, so your leaders know exactly what they’re getting.

Questions
No. Implementation is designed to be delivered remotely through working sessions with your leaders, standard work and regular check-ins. On-site time is added only when it clearly helps.
Before work begins, we agree on baseline and success measures with your leaders. Progress and validated impact are tracked against those measures and reviewed in regular check-ins, so results are visible and sustained.
The executives, medical directors, operations leaders and APP leaders who own the change, so progress continues between sessions.

Data & Security
Intelligence runs in Power BI and can be deployed in your organization’s own environment, so your data stays within your security controls. We configure, refresh and maintain it with your analytics team.
Only what the analysis requires: workforce, scheduling, productivity, billing and compensation data. We never need clinical notes, and we work with de-identified or aggregated data wherever possible.
We sign business associate and data use agreements before any data is shared, transfer data only through secure, approved channels and follow your organization’s security policies. Your data stays yours and is never shared or combined with other clients’ data.
Setup takes a few working sessions with your analytics team. After that, monthly refreshes run with minimal involvement, and quarterly executive reviews take about an hour of leadership time.

Each playbook brings national standards and best practices for specialty-specific APP utilization and role definition into one practical tool.
The history, the workforce numbers, and the published evidence, written for a physician audience.
Every model compared side by side, with fit criteria, planning ratios, and the failure mode to engineer against.
The rule stack by state, setting, and payer, with agreement language and escalation standards in triggers and minutes.
Every billing pathway, what it hides, and a financial model built on physician capacity with the sensitivities stated.
Why APP productivity is mismeasured, and the scorecard that measures the role instead of the claim.
Onboarding and ramp, the leadership dyad, workforce planning, career ladders, and the annual operating cycle.

Every title in the series is built on the same operating standard. Here is the whole idea in six questions.
Medical directors and department chairs, service line and practice leaders, chief medical, nursing, and operating officers, and lead APPs. Written for leaders who have to decide, fund, and defend, not for a classroom.
About 100 pages in seven parts: the case for the workforce, program design, economics and compliance, measurement, people and governance, implementation, and reference. Six care models, a four-domain performance standard, and eight worksheets that take the work off the page.
Nine specialties available now, from hospital medicine and emergency medicine to oncology, dermatology, and women’s health, with new titles released in sequence. Each one is specialty-specific: its own models, its own billing rules, its own evidence.
Use it when a position request is due, when a productivity report is about to condemn a good clinician, when a new service line launches, or when the annual workforce plan has to be more than a headcount. It is written to be applied in ninety days.
They were hired into. The workforce is now the growth workforce in nearly every specialty, and the value it creates hides inside other people’s reports. A designed program can prove its value in every budget cycle; an improvised one is the first line cut.
One management sequence, repeated in every section: establish what is known, lay out the options with selection criteria, then convert the decision into standard work. The Implementation Session applies it to your program, including an audit of your current privileges and agreements.
Delivered as a PDF, instantly, under a single-organization license.

About APProviso
APProviso helps healthcare organizations optimize the APP workforce they have and grow with intention, bringing national standards, research-based methods and deep operational experience to every engagement.
What We Believe
When roles are clearly defined and their work is fully visible, APPs strengthen access, quality and team performance.
Define who does what work and why before adding FTE.
Traditional productivity measures often miss shared and team-based work. We make it visible.
Every new role should start with a clear purpose and a plan to sustain it.
Our Story
Healthcare leaders are consistently asked for an industry standard for APP productivity, utilization and role design, and find that one doesn’t exist. Without it, APPs are too often judged by physician measures that miss how they actually practice.
APProviso was founded by healthcare leaders with deep operational experience in advanced practice to change that: research-founded standards, specialty by specialty, and a partner to help organizations put them into practice.

How APProviso handles the information you share with us.
Last updated: September 29, 2026
APProviso ("we," "us") provides specialty playbooks, advisory services, and workforce intelligence to healthcare organizations. This policy explains what information we collect through approviso.com and our services, how we use it, and the choices you have. Data a client organization provides during an engagement is also governed by the written agreement for that engagement, which controls if the two conflict.
Information you give us. When you submit a form, reserve a title, take the self-assessment, or email us, we collect what you enter: typically your name, work email, organization, role, specialty of interest, your message, and your self-assessment responses.
Purchase information. Playbooks are sold through Gumroad. Gumroad collects your payment details under its own privacy policy; we do not receive your card number. Gumroad shares with us your name, email address, the title purchased, and the transaction record so we can support you and keep required business records.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps standard server logs, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring site. We use these, and Netlify's server-side traffic statistics, to understand which pages are read and to keep the site secure. The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads.
Client engagement data. During an assessment, session, or Intelligence subscription, a client organization provides workforce, scheduling, productivity, billing, and compensation data under its agreement with us. We do not request clinical notes or patient-identifiable information. If an engagement requires protected health information, we sign a business associate agreement before any data is shared.
Demonstration uploads. If you load a workbook into the demonstration dashboard, it is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to us or stored.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We share information only:
Client engagement data stays the client's and is never shared with, or combined with, other clients' data.
Form submissions and correspondence are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of our relationship. Purchase records are kept as required by tax and accounting law. Client engagement data is kept for the term set in the client's agreement and then returned or deleted.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, and we transfer client data only through secure, approved channels under the client's security policies. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you messages, by emailing hello@approviso.com. We will respond within 30 days. We honor these requests regardless of where you live; if a state privacy law gives you additional rights, you may exercise them the same way. Requests about client engagement data should come through your organization's designated contact under its agreement.
The site and services are for healthcare professionals and organizations. They are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors.
We are based in the United States and process information here. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and handled in the United States.
We will post any changes here with a new date. Material changes affecting client engagement data will also be communicated to the client's designated contact.

The terms that govern this site, our playbooks and our services.
Last updated: September 29, 2026
These Terms of Use are an agreement between APProviso ("APProviso," "we," "us") and you. They govern your use of approviso.com and the playbooks, tools, and other materials we make available through it. By using the site or purchasing a playbook, you accept these terms. If you are acting for a hospital, health system, medical group, or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf, and "you" includes that organization. The site is intended for business use by adults.
Playbooks are licensed, not sold. When you purchase a playbook, APProviso grants your organization a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the edition you purchased for internal purposes. New editions are separate products unless we state otherwise.
Single-organization license (the standard purchase) covers one hospital, medical group, or practice. Its leaders, employed and contracted clinicians, and staff may read the playbook, print it, use and adapt its worksheets, and present its content in internal meetings. If you are part of a health system with more than one hospital, the standard license covers one hospital or group within it.
Enterprise License covers unlimited internal use of one title across every hospital, group, and practice in your health system, plus the leadership briefing described on the pricing page.
What no license allows. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute a playbook; post it, or substantial parts of it, on any public site or on a shared drive outside your organization; share it with consultants, vendors, staffing companies, or other organizations, except your own advisors working on your behalf under confidentiality; remove copyright or licensing notices; or use it to create a competing product, training program, or dataset, including as material for training an artificial intelligence model. If you need broader rights, email hello@approviso.com.
If you breach the license, we may terminate it, and you must stop using the playbook and delete your copies.
Playbook purchases are processed by Gumroad, Inc., our payment and delivery provider, under its terms as well as ours. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which Gumroad collects where required. After payment, Gumroad emails a download link for the PDF. If the link does not arrive within 24 hours, check your spam folder, then email hello@approviso.com and we will send the file directly. Organizations that require an invoice or purchase order can request one through the Contact page; we deliver the playbook once the invoice is paid.
If a playbook does not meet your needs, email hello@approviso.com within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Because the playbook is delivered as a downloadable file, a refund ends the license: delete all copies when you request one. Refunds are issued through Gumroad to the original payment method. Files that are corrupted or not delivered will be replaced at no charge.
Reserving a playbook that is still in production is not an order. No payment is taken, and you are not obligated to buy. We will email you when the title is released, and you can purchase it then at the price shown at that time.
Implementation Sessions, fractional director engagements, APP Workforce Reviews, and Intelligence subscriptions are provided only under a separate written agreement that sets out scope, fees, timing, and data terms. Descriptions and pricing on this site are for information and are not offers; a quote is not binding until both parties sign. If a signed agreement conflicts with these terms, the signed agreement controls for that engagement. Submitting a form or booking a conversation does not make you a client.
The client portal is provisioned only for Intelligence subscribers under their agreement. Keep your credentials confidential and tell us promptly if you believe they have been compromised. The demonstration dashboard on this site shows fictional data for a fictional health system, and its figures are illustrative only. If you load a workbook into the demonstration, the file is processed in your browser and is not transmitted to us or stored.
Our playbooks, tools, self-assessment, articles, and services support operational planning. They summarize national standards, published evidence, and common practice. They are not legal, regulatory, billing, coding, valuation, tax, accounting, or clinical advice, and they do not create a consultant, advisor, or professional relationship. Scope of practice, privileging, supervision and collaboration requirements, billing and documentation rules, and compensation vary by state, payer, and organization, and they change. Before acting on any decision, confirm it against your state law, your medical staff bylaws, current payer rules, and your own legal, compliance, and finance advisors. Compensation and market benchmarking informs planning and is not a fair market value opinion. The self-assessment produces a general indication for discussion, not a formal assessment of your program.
The site and everything on it, including the playbooks, worksheets, frameworks, reports, dashboards, text, graphics, and design, belong to APProviso or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. APProviso and the APProviso logo are our marks. Apart from the license in Section 2, nothing on the site grants you rights in our materials. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.

The site relies on service providers, including Netlify for hosting and forms and Gumroad for payments and delivery, and it links to third-party articles and sites. Those services and sites are governed by their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

Liability for services is set in the signed services agreement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You will defend and hold harmless APProviso from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from your organization's breach of the playbook license or use of the materials in violation of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing, either party will give the other written notice and 30 days to resolve the matter.
We may update these terms by posting a new version with a new date. Continued use after that date means you accept the change, and the terms in effect at the time of a purchase govern that purchase. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent. These terms, together with any signed services agreement, are the entire agreement between us regarding the site and the materials.
